K-pop ( Korean Popular Music)

K-pop refers to popular music gaining popularity in Korea.

Popular music from the United Kingdom and United States is called pop, and popular songs from countries other than these regions are also called pop but with the initial of their country names at the beginning which is where K-pop comes from. Especially, after Korean pop songs became popular abroad, the name K-pop started to be used as a name for Korean pop songs around the world.

In general, K-pop can be thought of as a combination of pop, rock, hip-hop, R&B and electronic music, and because it has the characteristic of Asian performances combined with western sounds/music, it is considered as a more global music.
The so-called knife-like group dance and difficult choreography movements of Korean singers contributed greatly to taking K-pop to a global level.

Group dance is one of the most important elements of K-pop. Group dances first began with singers changing their seats when several people were performing on stage. Idols who dance in perfect harmony, and in synchronization as if a single person is performing is referred to as Group Dance Idols or Knife-like Group Dance Idols.
